4 NFL preseason rookie debuts all football fans should be excited for
By Tommy Jaggi
The NFL preseason is underway, and fans will be anxious to see which rookies stand out this year. Here are four that could have huge implications on the future of the NFL.
The 2021 quarterback class is one that will have a chance to go down in the record books if it can live up to lofty expectations. Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields were two of the best prospects ever graded coming out of high school. They join three other quarterbacks who climbed the ladder to become early first-round selections this past April.
These quarterbacks will have a chance to reshape their franchises and become the future icons of the NFL. Here are four NFL preseason debuts fans should be excited to see:
QB Zach Wilson
Opponent: New York Giants, Saturday, August 14th, 7:30 PM ET
The Jets haven’t had a great quarterback in ages, and it hasn’t been for a lack of trying. With poor coaching and an awful roster, the Sam Darnold experiment didn’t end so well for New York. Now the team has moved on to a young quarterback with immense arm talent and upside.
Zach Wilson fits the mold of today’s NFL passer with his mobility and ability to extend the play while keeping his eyes down the field. His first NFL preseason matchup will come against a stingy Giants defense that was one of the best units in the league last year. It looks like rookie receiver Elijah Moore will sit this one out as he undergoes an MRI on his quad. Let’s see if Wilson can still play with the same swagger we saw from him at BYU in 2020.
