4 NFL preseason rookie debuts all football fans should be excited for

QB Justin Fields
Opponent: Miami Dolphins, Saturday, August 14th at 1:00 PM ET
Right now, Justin Fields is sandwiched between Andy Dalton and Nick Foles on Chicago’s official depth chart. Though the Bears are under fairly new management, it didn’t take long for former 2nd overall pick Mitch Trubisky to fall out of favor with the organization.
Things should be much different this time around, but with two quality veterans at the position, it’s hard to say when exactly Fields will be ready to take the reigns in Chicago. Much of this could depend on how Andy Dalton looks during training camp. With a solid defense, Dalton could be good enough to allow this team to compete for a shot at the playoffs in 2021. However, the Bears need more than that.
Justin Fields has three NFL preseason games ahead of him to try to climb the ladder and potentially become the starter by Week 1. Dalton played reasonably well last year for the Dallas Cowboys, and Fields will need to be clearly better in the preseason to start from the gate.
Fields has a big arm and remarkable athleticism. We will see if he’s able to consistently show these traits off against a Miami Dolphins defense that could be one of the best in the NFL in 2021.
