It looks like we have seen Big Ben in black and gold for the last time. Which leads to the question how do the Pittsburgh Steelers replace their quarterback of the last almost two decades?

The answer could be in this year’s draft, but there is not a solid number one choice. So the question becomes is it better to draft one who might not be the answer, or attack free-agency to fill the vacant quarterback position? We already know the rest of the quarterbacks on their roster are not the answer.

The Pittsburg Steelers for the first time in many years, now face a choice of taking a quarterback in the first round. Unlike the last few years, none of them stand out as what would be an elite prospect at quarterback. We have a few good ones sprinkled in with Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder, Malik Willis, Matt Corral, and Carson Strong.

This seems to be a much different list than what we thought it would look like when the 2021 college football season started.

This Steelers team made the playoffs, even with a shell of a quarterback. Though they also got some lucky breaks in the division and some of the games they were in. So this team is a ready playoff contender, which adds a new quarterback will only make it better or worse. If they draft one of these guys mentioned and they struggle, this team goes backward quickly. At a time where we need to see more progression from Najee Harris and Claypool two of their young budding stars.

Steelers have a tough decision at QB in the 2022 NFL Draft

The Steelers hold the 20th pick in the draft, and if the mocks should be correct this most likely means Kenny Pickett, and either Desmond Ridder or Matt Corral if not both would be out of reach.

However, for me, this is great, as I think Malik Willis would be a great option for the Steelers. So then what’s the problem? He’s raw played against no one, and at times struggled against teams who most people did not know to exist. But, he profiles as a faster Donovan McNabb. So there will be a large learning curve most likely, but with his athletic ability, I don’t think he will struggle long.

So let’s take a look at some of the Pros for them taking a quarterback with the 20th overall pick.
