The 2022 NFL Draft is lacking depth in some positions, but here’s why fantasy football fans should be pumped for the wide receiver class this year.

Just like last year, fantasy football players should be excited about this wide receiver class. We saw multiple rookie WR last year show out for fantasy football players such as Ja`Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, and Devonta Smith. This year we could see some of the same and kick the notion that rookie WR cant produce for fantasy football.

In the 2022 NFL Draft, we could see five WR drafted in the first round or at least in the top-45 (which will adjust the fantasy football rankings when it comes to WR in general). With the NFL ever-changing, the passing game has come to the forefront. Using rookie WR as a top-end option is no longer an issue. We see teams throwing them to the wolves and watching them flourish.

All three of Chase, Waddle, and Smith turned out to be awesome fantasy football pick-ups. Most of you got them for pennies on the dollar. Similar to last year the SEC could dominate the top spots for WR in rookie fantasy drafts.

This year we have another great crop of WR who can make an instant fantasy impact. Some of which is pure need, the other is just the amount of depth and talent. Drake London, Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams, Treylon Burks, and Chris Olave could all end up in the first-45 picks. Not to mention the possibility of teams overlooking Geroge Pickens injury and banking on his upside.

With multiple teams in the NFL searching for a true #1 WR this draft could show out, and you could get more rookie WR for cheap in the draft. If you are in a dynasty league I would push to get as many top-30 picks as you can get if you are struggling in the WR category.

None of the top-end WR should end up on a team where they won’t be utilized correctly. With the exception of Toney, almost every WR drafted in the first two rounds out produced their draft slot for fantasy dynasty or re-draft.

Where will top WRs land in 2022 NFL Draft?

We see at least three rookie WR end up in the top-25 of WR in the NFL next year as far as fantasy goes with the many styles and sizes we have in this draft.

Expect several teams to attack WR such as New Orleans, Green Bay, Buffalo, New York Giants, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, and Las Vegas Raiders. Which could push for some WR to be taken a little early. This is good news for fantasy owners, no one will overreach for a WR and not use them as long as they are healthy.

There is more than enough depth at WR for you dynasty players to be watering at the mouth, and for re-draft, I would not shy away from taking one over their current slot.

Fantasy is about having the best most consistent players and teams are no longer letting rookie WR sit and wait. They are unleashing them with fury and letting them go. This is great and bad because it’s sink or swim you could end up drafting one like Jalen Regor or drafting the next top WR like Ja`Marr Chase.

It can go either way, but with this crop, I would expect most of them to be utilized early and often. Some of it is due to teams and draft slots, the other half is because teams are starting to show that rookie WR can do anything veterans can do.

We will also have several players, who can play both slot or WR2 position on day one.

Now, I wouldn’t go out giving a lot of value for a first-round pick, but if you need a WR I would value the picks more than the current players you have. We have a good mix of players in this draft to fit your needs if you are PPR, extra points for long catches or touchdown bonuses. We have possession guys like Burks. Do it all guys line London, and speed guys like Williams and Wilson.

There is no reason if you have a first-round pick in dynasty you should not be thinking about one of these top-end WRs.

In re-draft leagues, I would not go after any of them unless they have a favorable landing spot, until around the fourth round. There is still a lot of risks when it comes to rookie WR, but missing out on a Justin Jefferson or Ja`Marr Chase could cost you a lot no matter what format you play.

Next. Will the Eagles take a QB in the first round?. dark

There will be a lot of depth in the middle rounds, so target them as it fits your league’s scoring. If you end up with two rookie WR on your roster, I wouldn’t be mad, but I would be holding them and flipping at the deadline once you are in playoff position.
