. . Cleveland Browns. 2. team. 53.

Why the Cleveland Browns may trade down in the 2022 NFL Draft

The Browns might be one of the more interesting teams in this draft sitting at 13th overall. They are set at the major positions in this draft but may be looking for an offensive lineman or the next Baker Mayfield replacement.

Their pick will be quite valuable to later teams in this draft, and for who will be on the board at 13th the Browns will most likely have that position covered. A move down will not only give them a chance at maybe going QB with Malik Willis or Desmond Ridder, but could also open up options at offensive line.

The Browns could also look to move down and target a team like the Chargers where they could be eyeing a top-flight corner, and end up netting some later picks and maybe stealing one for depth at wideout. After moving Odell Beckham Jr, they need to try and get some depth.

The Browns could then use that pick on the offensive line without giving up much talent moving down from 13th to 17th.

Once considered to be a Super Bowl favorite or a hot name anyway, they fell apart and it seems this team needs a bit of a new direction. Which could come in the form of a quarterback, as the defense seems set. The one position they seem to be struggling with is quarterback. While some people are up and down on Mayfield, it didn’t help his case that Beckam went to the Rams and blew up. Though this could also be a coaching issue as well.

Who should the Dawg Pound target in the 2022 NFL Draft?

If they can move down to 17th or a little later, Mailk Willis, QB out of Liberty, might be their best bet. While it may come as a surprise Bakers’ days looked numbered, and they don’t seem to be set on extending him.

While this QB class is not all that exciting and 2023 has better options, this team is already playoff ready and Willis could give them a spark, or let him sit and Baker ride out his last year then come into 2023 ready to go. Using their next first-round pick in 2023 to replace someone they lost or fill the WR depth chart again.
