Why the Arizona Cardinals may trade up in the 2022 NFL Draft

Kyler Murray’s business aside, the Cardinals have needs at both CB and OL. They also could be losing Chandler Jones, moving up from 23rd should be at the forefront of their off-season plans.

Kyler Murray seems to be in an odd contract situation, while that’s going on they should most likely try and make him happy in the draft. However, at 23rd there may not be a legit offensive lineman to really help that offensive line that keeps him running. Not to mention if Chandler Jones leaves, they will need to jump up to go after someone who could replace his production.

While a jump into the top 10 seems out of the question coming up to 15th with the Eagles the first of their back-to-back picks seems more doable.

The Eagles will be targeting the offensive line with one of their three picks. Following them, there is also the Saints, Pittsburgh, and Raiders in front of the Cardinals who all should be looking at OL. So jumping up would be a must if they want to target a true day one starter at offensive line.

There should be a handful left at both IOL or OT who could fit in well with the Cardinals, and should Chandler Jones leave and they go that route they will end up with one of the best EDGE players in the class, as they will get pushed down a bit in favor of some good CB, LB, and WR players in this class.

This move may take a bit for them to make happen, but for a team who went from SB favorite to mediocrity in a matter of weeks. Fixing those holes and keeping this team moving forward in a division where two of the teams made the NFC Championship game can not be overstated.

Who would be the best option to move up for?

The Cardinals will have options as they move up, but as for which position they should target that is a little cloudy. Their best bet would be for Jordan Davis, IDL. If he is gone, then attack one of the remaining offensive linemen in that area which could be Charles Cross. Either way, it seems the Cardinals will need to jump the Saints, Steelers, and Raiders to get either one of those two players.
