As the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine officially went underway last week, it’s safe to say the wide receivers stole the show.

Speed had scouts buzzing, as there were nine sub-4.4-second 40-yard-dash times, as well as (unofficially) the fastest 40-yard-dash in combine history. While that time didn’t hold, there’s no doubt the fleet feet on display at this year’s combine was unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

As these athletes continue to participate in interviews, press conferences, and more, I decided to count down my top 5 wide receivers following their showcase in Lucas Oil Stadium.

5. Drake London, USC

A dominant athlete, Drake London is physical in all facets of the game, whether that be attacking the ball, run blocking, or with the ball in his hands. His basketball background translates well as he uses his bigger frame to “box-out” defenders in contested-catch situations.

While not fast, he has above-average footspeed that enables him to beat the press and create separation at the top of his routes, which is rare for such a big guy. London will likely be scheme dependent, as a vertical passing game will allow him to be utilized on the outside and as a big slot receiver. Further, he’ll need good quarterback play and creative usage to maximize his physical traits.
