Pick 51. Chad Muma, Linebacker Wyoming

Wyoming’s Chad Muma could be the perfect addition to this Eagles linebacker corp. The recent signing of free-agent linebacker Kyzir White helps address the position, but he signed for just one year. If the Eagles hope to have security at the spot, they will need to address it during the draft.

Chad Muma was one of the more explosive linebackers in college football during his time at Wyoming. Over the last two seasons, Muma was put into a much larger role for this defense. In his final 19 games, he recorded 214 tackles, 16 sacks, 4.5 dacks, and 3 interceptions. Over these past two seasons, Muma also averaged just over 11 tackles per game.

Muma has the high motor that many teams look for in their players. At 6-3 and 240 pounds, he also has the size of the modern linebacker. His size, paired with his speed makes him a real threat to blow up any play. During his final season at Wyoming, he returned two interceptions for touchdowns.

The downside that comes with Muma is the level of competition that he faced while at Wyoming. He hasn’t faced the same talent as some of the draft other top-linebacker prospects. This has led some people to doubt how smoothly his transition will be to the NFL. Given that he can make the switch, Muma could be an immediate impact player on this defense.

If the Eagles are looking to find a long-term solution at the middle linebacker position, they have their guy in Muma. He fits the mold of the modern-day linebacker and has proven that he can play.
