New Orleans Saints’ rookie wide receiver Chris Olave had his coming out party on Sunday and showed the league why he was a first round pick.  The Saints weren’t able to come away with the victory, but Chris Olave gives them some promise.

As the league has progressed, the NFL has seen receivers become more and more valuable.  Large receiver contracts have been paid out in the recent past.  Many receivers are earning more than $20 million per season.

Some of these pass catchers are also some of the absolute best players in the league, regardless of position.  It’s a development that has continued, and the 2022 NFL Draft brought in a new class of talented pass catchers.

Six wide receivers were taken in the first round, and many thought Chris Olave was the best one.  He was the third wide receiver taken, behind Drake London and Garrett Wilson.  Both London and Wilson have 214 receiving yards, while Olave has 268 through three games.

268 receiving yards through three games puts him on pace to have 1,519 yards on the season.  I do think Olave is in a very good situation in New Orleans as well.  For all of his faults, Jameis Winston isn’t afraid to air it out.  He’s got a 5,000 yard passing season and 30 passing touchdown season under his belt.

Chris Olave ranks 7th in the NFL with his 268 yard total.  He’s yet to get in the endzone, but that;ll come soon.  New Orleans plays the Vikings and Seahawks next, two teams that struggle in their secondary.  Perhaps we’ll see the rookie breakout even more.

More and more, it seems like some of these rookie receiver are able to adjust quickly to the NFL.  Plus, Olave gets to share a room with Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas, so he’s most definitely in a good situation in New Orleans.
