New York Giants could benefit from an earlier first round pick

Another team that has had an unexpectedly great year was the New York Giants, with Brian Daboll as head coach and a successful season from quarterback Daniel Jones. The Giants hired a number of coaches and front office personnel from the Buffalo Bills and the parallels between the two franchises are rather remarkable.

Daboll in his first year was able to lead the Giants to the playoffs, similar to what Sean McDermott was able to do in his first year with the Bills in 2017. However, after that season the Bills went through a bit of a rebuild, and that first draft after the playoffs was pivotal as they added players like Josh Allen, Tremaine Edmunds, Taron Johnson, and Siran Neal who have been key parts of this team.

The Giants were able to make the playoffs this year but if they hope to move into that top tier of the NFC, they still need to improve the roster. While a playoff win would be a confidence booster for the franchise, an earlier first round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft probably would be more beneficial if they pick the right player.
