Jalen Carter

Similar to Kelee Ringo, Jalen Carter would seem like he didn’t have much of an impact against TCU based on the box score with only one tackle. However, his impact was notable during the course of the game as Jordan Reid with ESPN showed in this highlight from the game.

The defensive tackle is viewed by some, like ESPN’s Mel Kiper, to be the best player in this year’s draft class. These types of games are the reason why and he can drastically improve any defense he steps into at the NFL level.

The biggest question for Carter is where he gets drafted. He certainly has the talent to be the top pick but in a year with some excellent quarterbacks, it is hard to imagine him going into the Top 2. The reason is that the Bears either trade the top pick to a team that needs a quarterback or takes a quarterback of their own and the Houston Texans are almost certainly taking a quarterback themselves.

However, a team like the Arizona Cardinals would make a great deal of sense as they will be losing J.J. Watt, who is expected to retire after the season. The addition of Jalen Carter to that defensive line would be a big boost.
