Brock Purdy

The final rookie is one that I just previously mentioned in Brock Purdy, who was the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. That pick is commonly referred to as Mr. Irrelevant but Purdy has been far from irrelevant this season.

After the 49ers saw Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo suffer long-term injuries, they were forced to turn to the seventh-round rookie and Purdy has played great. He essentially was the starter in six games (he played 90% of the snaps against the Miami Dolphins) and went 6-0 in those games and threw for 1,308 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and only 3 interceptions.

The 49ers’ offense is perfect for a rookie quarterback because of how much they run the ball and the way Kyle Shanahan is able to scheme high-percentage throws. If the 49ers can make a deep run in the playoffs, then Brock Purdy has a real chance of breaking out and even making a case that he should be the starter next season for the 49ers.
