Jamel Dean

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the best passing defenses in 2022 after allowing on average only 203.6 passing yards per game, which was the eighth-lowest total in the league. One of the big reasons was the performance of their cornerbacks in Carlton Davis III and Jamel Dean but Dean is now set to hit free agency this offseason.

Dean was a second round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2019 NFL Draft and after two years as a backup, he stepped in as the starter during the 2021 season. During the past two years, he has had 110 total tackles, four interceptions and 17 passes defended.

In addition to Dean, the Bucs could also lose Logan Ryan and this would make a position of focus if both players were to leave in free agency. However, if they can re-sign Jamel Dean it is no longer a high priority, and picks in the 2023 NFL Draft could go to other positions.
