One of the big decisions for the Miami Dolphins this offseason is what they should do with cornerback Byron Jones. The Dolphins signed him to a five-year contract when he was a free agent in 2020 and he hasn’t had the same success he did prior to that with the Dallas Cowboys.

This past season, Jones wasn’t able to play at all this season after having ankle surgery last March. Now with a cap hit near $19 million for 2023, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Dolphins release Jones at some point this offseason.

If they do, they are going to need to add more talent to the position and that is why Emmanuel Forbes out of Mississippi State makes sense for the first pick in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft. He played 35 games over three seasons for the Bulldogs and had 14 interceptions, 20 passes defended and returned six of those 14 interceptions for touchdowns.

He would be a great player to pair with Xavien Howard and address the biggest concern for their secondary.
