Last offseason, the offensive line was another point of focus for the Miami Dolphins after signing free agents Terron Armstead and guard Connor Williams (who played center this past year). The hope was these two veterans could help along some recent draft picks like Austin Jackson, Robert Hunt, and Liam Eichenburg.

However, that didn’t really materialize as injuries seemed to derail any progress the team tried to make. That is why the selection of Steve Avila here in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft makes sense as the Dolphins need depth across the offensive line.

Avila is an experienced interior offensive lineman that can really play both guard positions or even center. He was named first-team All-Big 12 in both 2021 and then again last year. At worst, Avila should be able to backup all three interior spots on the offensive line and at best could compete for a starting job as a rookie at either guard spot.
