More quarterbacks are drafted than wide receivers in the first round

Over the past few years, there have been excellent wide receivers coming out of college, and over the past three years, there have been at least five wide receivers drafted in the first round each year.

The class this year doesn’t have those top prospects and it wouldn’t be surprising to see more quarterbacks drafted in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. After the three quarterbacks mentioned, quarterback Anthony Richardson out of Florida has a good chance to be selected at some point on the first night and that would bring the total to four.

As for wide receivers, there really aren’t any guaranteed locks in the first round but players who have a chance to be selected include Jordan Addison, Quentin Johnston, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Zay Flowers. It remains to be seen who will be the first wide receiver drafted but it is hard to envision all four being selected in the first round.
