Over the second half of last season, it seemed pretty clear that the team’s best running back was rookie James Cook. He looked explosive running the ball and was a threat in the passing game when involved.

The Bills should continue to give Cook as many opportunities as possible to be that featured running back next season but it would make sense to pair him with a bigger running back that can handle more of those short-yardage and goal-line situations.

That is why Chris Rodriguez Jr. out of Kentucky is the next pick in this 2023 NFL mock draft for the Buffalo Bills. He is a bruising running back at 5’11” and 224 pounds that had over 500 carries over the past three years with 26 rushing touchdowns. The addition of Rodriguez to this backfield with James Cook would give the offense much-needed balance and help establish the run more in 2023.
