Predicting the AFC starting QBs for the 2023 season – AFC East

New England Patriots – Mac Jones

I think the Patriots will sniff around for a QB upgrade, but I think they’ll try to make it work in the AFC with Mac Jones, even though I don’t see him as a long-term option for the team.

I just do not think his ceiling is nearly high enough.

New York Jets – Jimmy Garoppolo

The Jets will sign Jimmy Garoppolo in free agency.  They’ll miss out on Aaron Rodgers (hint) but will fallback to their Plan B in Jimmy G.

Head coach Robert Saleh was the DC in San Fran, so there are some former 49ers’ staff in New York.  The Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett as the OC, so the marriage of Hackett/Garoppolo could happen in New York.

Buffalo Bills – Josh Allen

Next…

Miami Dolphins – Tua Tagovalioa

Tua’s injury history is a valid concern, but he was insanely efficient in year one with Mike McDaniel.  The Dolphins made fantastic hire when they brought in Vic Fangio to be the defensive coordinator.

I do think the Dolphins wouldn’t hate trying to make an upgrade, but the Dolphins were one of the best teams in the AFC at one point with Tua under center, so let’s not overthink this.
