Predicting the NFC starting QBs for the 2023 season – NFC South

New Orleans Saints – Derek Carr

The Saints have met with Derek Carr and seem to be the most interested in him at this point.  Honestly, it does look like as I type these words, Carr reunites with Dennis Allen and takes the reigns as the Saints’ starting quarterback in 2023.

Atlanta Falcons – Desmond Ridder

Ridder started four games in 2022, went 2-2, and threw for two touchdowns, zero interceptions, and earned a passer rating of 86.4

Not too bad.

Ridder may not ever be something special, but Arthur Smith is a good coach and was able to get production out of a similar quarterback in Ryan Tannehill.

Carolina Panthers – Ryan Tannehill

I love what the Panthers have done this offseason in hiring Frank Reich as the head coach and Ejiro Evero as the defensive coordinator.

With a top 10 pick, they may chase a QB as I do not think they’ll be picking this high in the future.  Someone to fill that void for a year or so could be Ryan Tannehill, who surely is not returning to the Titans in 2023.

Tannehill is capable and could have another couple productive seasons playing for Frank Reich.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Kyle Trask

I sincerely have no clue what the Buccaneers will do.  While the NFC South is wide open, Tampa Bay is tens of millions of dollars under the cap and might be in the worst situation of any team in the NFC.

I don’t think it’s an appealing destination for a free agent quarterback, and dare I say they’d prefer to have a high pick in 2023.

Kyle Trask might be the logical choice to be the starter.  They have a ton of veteran free agents and Tom Brady is gone.
