Bryce Young cancels remaining visits, sure he’ll go #1?

Projected number one overall pick Bryce Young has canceled the remaining team visits he has on his schedule, perhaps indicating where he’ll be drafted.  To be fair, there was probably no scenario where Young falls past the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Young has mostly been seen as the top QB prospect, exceling at elevating the already insane talent around him at Alabama.  He’s a very good prospect and likely a week one starter for the Carolina Panthers, who are likely going to take him.

The biggest knock on Bryce Young, as we all know, is his slim frame.  He’s 5’10” and barely 200 pounds, so he’s literally the size of a slot cornerback.

However, everything else about Young’s game is very good, and given that he’s canceled the rest of his visits, that gives even more indication that Young is going within the top two picks.  We could also comfortably say that the Panthers are the ones who are likely selecting him.  Apparently, the Houston Texans aren’t entirely sold on the top QB prospects and have a high opinion of Will Anderson, so the Texans might not be interested in Young with their second overall pick

If Young was 6’2″ and 215 pounds, the Panthers would have likely already turned their draft card in, but I do think his frame has made them think about this selection more than they normally would.

My personal opinion, while unlikely, is that the Panthers should take Anthony Richardson with the top pick.  Frank Reich, the new head coach in Carolina, not only has legitimate QB development on his resume, but so does Jim Caldwell, who is also on that staff.

I’d think that the likes of Reich and Caldwell could get the most out of just about any QB prospect, so why not take a chance on someone like Richardson, whose floor is as high as the sky?
