The draft is a mere eight days away and with rumors swirling, we take a look at the prospects favored to be drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round.

With just over a week before the NFL Draft takes center stage in Kansas City, rumors are swirling at an all-time high. While there is plenty of smoke & mirrors, some of the rumors seem to have validity, whether due to overall fit or just team interest. It’s likely that one of the players on this list will end up joining the Dallas Cowboys for 2023 & beyond, but who should we be favoring? Let’s take a look….

Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame

As mentioned in the tweet below, both Mel Kiper and Dane Brugler mocked the Dallas Cowboys to select Tyler Smith in 2022.

In Dane Brugler’s 7-Round mock draft, he mentions the following:

"“As one plugged-in league source told me about Mayer and the Cowboys: ‘I just can’t see Dallas passing.’ The Cowboys are looking for a tight end who can hold his own as a blocker but also move the sticks as a receiving threat. If Mayer makes it this far, it’s a good bet he will have a star on his helmet.”"

The Dallas Cowboys interest is obvious as is their need at the position. Mayer is the most complete Tight End in the class and would make an immediate impact as both a pass catcher and blocker.
