The San Francisco 49ers do not have much draft capital but could still fill the remaining holes on their roster in the 2023 NFL Draft.  What a 2022 season it was for the 49ers.  Down to their third string quarterback in 2022 Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy, the Niners made a run all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

Adding Christian McCaffrey at the trade deadline seemed to be a last ditch effort to salvage the season, and Purdy’s unexpected run was a welcome surprise for them.

They don’t pick until the very end of the third round, but do have the 99th, 101st, and 102nd overall picks.

How should the 49ers attack the 2023 NFL Draft?

San Francisco 49ers’ Mock Draft: Little capital to work with

99th overall pick: Jartavius Martin, CB, Illinois

The 49ers need some help at the cornerback position.  Emmanuel Moseley tore his ACL at the beginning of the 2022 season and the team also lost K’Waun Williams to the Denver Broncos in last year’s free agency period.  They need reinforcements at this position in the worst way.

101st overall pick: Wayna Morris, OT, Oklahoma

Another area of concern is their tackle spot.  Trent Williams is still elite but he’s getting old, and they lost Mike McGlinchey to the Denver Broncos in free agency this year.  Morris probably slides in as a backup swing tackle with potential to develop into a starter.

102nd overall pick: Christopher Smith II, S, Georgia

The team also lost Jimmie Ward to the Houston Texans this offseason, so they’ll likely need to add another body to the safety position.  Christopher Smith II has some nice ball skills and could be a solid contributor in his rookie season.

155th overall pick: Andrew Vorhees, OG, USC

Andrew Vorhees tore his ACL during the 2023 NFL Combine, so he’ll likely miss his entire rookie season, which is going to hurt his draft stock.  However, he’s a smart player who has played multiple positions along the offensive line.

This could end up being a great pick for the San Francisco 49ers.

164th overall pick: Cory Trice Jr, CB, Purdue

173rd overall pick: Will Mallory, TE, Miami (FL)

216th overall: Max Duggan, QB, TCU

222nd overall pick: Dante Stills, DT, West Virginia

247th overall pick: Charlie Thomas, LB, Georgia Tech

253rd overall pick: Michael Jefferson, WR, Louisiana

255th overall pick: Connor Galvin, OT, Baylor

Even though they are barely picking in the top 100, the 49ers do have 11 selections in the 2023 NFL Draft, so having that much capital, even though it isn’t valuable, could still work in their favor.
