The Houston Texans could be a good team in 2023

The Houston Texans landed the two best players in the 2023 NFL Draft and are slowly building what could be a sneaky team in 2023.  Don’t come at me all at once, but I do think the Texans could surprise some in 2023 and could be a better team than we think.

I also thought that last year and thought that Davis Mills would end up taking a step forward, but I was wrong.  Anyway, Houston came away with CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr in the 2023 NFL Draft, the two best players on offense and defense.

And if we take a peek at their roster, there really isn’t a ton of holes that need filling.  Depending on how Stroud does and if he can be the week one starter, this is a team that can shock some in 2023.  Just take a look at their depth chart, especially on defense.

I’m especially encouraged by what the Texans’ have along their defensive front and in the secondary.  Will Anderson helps boost a unit that already has Maliek Collins, Sheldon Rankins and Jerry Hughes.

Among their defensive, they really don’t have a glaring weakness, and I’d argue that this would be one of the better lines in football.  Their secondary has a similar feeling.

Their projected starters are Steven Nelson, Jimmie Ward, Jalen Pitre, and Derrick Stingley Jr.  The Houston Texans’ projected secondary backups of Tavierre Thomas, MJ Steward, Eric Murray, and Desmond King II shore up what is a rock solid unit with excellent depth.

On offense, their offensive line has some encouraging players on it.  Newly paid Laremy Tunsil is one of the best left tackles in football.  They have a stellar right guard in Shaq Mason, and took two centers in the 2023 NFL Draft in Juice Scruggs and Jarrett Patterson.

Their wide receivers are quietly very talented.  Veteran Robert Woods headlines a unit featuring him, Nico Collins, John Metchie III, and rookie draft pick Tank Dell.

They signed tight end Dalton Schultz to a one year deal and have Dameon Pierce and Devin Singletary in the backfield.  I’m telling you right now, the Houston Texans’ roster, from top to bottom, is quite impressive.

Look out for this team in 2023.
