2023 NFL Season: Three teams set to disappoint us
As there are breakout teams in NFL seasons, there are also teams who disappoint. Who will hold this unfortunate honor in 2023? Teams never want to endure this, but it’ll happen and has happened.
A couple of teams that disappointed us in the 2022 season were the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams. The Broncos had a ton of hype with them when they introduced Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson to their team.
The Rams had just won the Super Bowl and loaded up again in free agency. They seemed to be angled towards making another deep playoff run. Both teams won five games and limped to the end of the season.
Which three teams are going to disappoint in the coming NFL season?
2023 NFL Season: Three teams set to disappoint us
New Orleans Saints
I am not high on the Saints, even though they appear to have the best QB in the division in Derek Carr. I think Carr made the wrong decision by signing with New Orleans. Dennis Allen is not a good head coach and that showed last year.
I don’t love the fit. I think the roster itself is talented, but I think coaching is going to prevent them from winning more than seven or eight games in what is going to likely be a very poor division. I think this is a third place team.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are not going to again win 13 games in 2023. If they do, I’ll eat my shoe. They had a negative point differential and lost in the first round of the NFL playoffs. Kirk Cousins is nothing special as a quarterback and their defense did underperform.
With rumors that they plan on moving on from Dalvin Cook at some point, the offense might become less effective. Will they have enough at cornerback to stop opposing passing attacks? Who, outside of Justin Jefferson, is going to contribute on offense?
So many questions that don’t have clear answers.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams’ roster is simply painful to look at. Their projected starting lineup feels like a bunch of backups. I don’t see this team doing much in 2023, and I think they’ll end up blowing it all up at the end of the season.
Outside of an aging Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Donald, this team is hurting for legitimate players. Sean McVay is an excellent coach and this team was decimated by injuries in 2022, but I don’t think they are going to be able to win many games with their current roster. I envision them winning another five or six games in 2023; that’s it.
