There are a plethora of elite offensive skill players in the NFL. Let’s predict who will lead the league in their categories in the 2023 season.  Last year, players who you’d expect at the skill positions led the league in their respective categories.

Could there be a breakout player in 2023 that could lead the league in a certain statistic?  Or will the usual suspects end up at the top of the leaderboards in 2023?

2023 NFL Season: Projecting more offensive stat leaders

Receiving yards: Justin Jefferson

Justin Jefferson is going to lead the league in receiving yards once again in 2023.  He led the league in 2022 to the tune of 1,809 yards, en route to winning the Offensive Player of the Year award.  The Vikings took Jordan Addison in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, so I think opposing defenses will have more to deal with now that Addison is in the fold, perhaps creating more opportunities for Jefferson.

Rushing yards: Rhamondre Stevenson

Let’s get slightly weird with this prediction.  Rhamondre Stevenson took over the RB1 duties in New England last year, amassing over 1,000 yards on five yards per carry.  I think that Stevenson is going to get an even bigger workload in 2023, and I also think that new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is going to install a run-heavy offense to wear down opponents and to also take pressure off of Mac Jones.

Receiving touchdowns: Ja’Marr Chase

Ja’Marr Chase had the fourth most touchdown catches in 2022 even though he played in just 12 games.  In his third year in the NFL, he and Joe Burrow will hit their stride as a passing tandem, and Chase will lead the league in this category.  He had 13 during his rookie season and still managed over 1,000 yards in his 12 games played.

Rushing touchdowns: Josh Jacobs

I think the Las Vegas Raiders are going to be a very run-heavy offense in 2023 with Jimmy Garoppolo under center.  Garoppolo is efficient when he isn’t asked to do much and is paired with a strong running game.  Josh Jacobs led the NFL in rushing last year and also had 12 rushing touchdowns.

He’ll get a ton of work in 2023 and should be at the top of this list.

Total touchdowns: Christian McCaffrey

Christian McCaffrey was traded to the San Francisco 49ers during the 2022 season and was a marvelous weapon for them.  He is a perfect fit in the Kyle Shanahan offense and will now have a full offseason with the team.  He scored 13 total touchdowns last year and will hit the 20 TD mark in 2023.

The Niners are going to rely heavily on CMC, especially with their uncertainty at QB.
