There is plenty at stake in the 2023 NFL season, and many jobs are on the line. Let’s look at three coaches on the hot seat entering the 2023 season.  I think there are way more than three coaches on the hot seat, but these head coaches were the first to come to mind.

At the end of the day, no matter what (for the most part), if a team is not winning, the head coach  loses their job.  It’s that simple.  Some coaches may have much longer leashes than others for varying reasons.  Winning a Super Bowl definitely gives a head coach some more leash, while consecutive years of losing seasons might put another coach at risk of losing their job.

There are probably 10 head coaches in the NFL on the hot seat for the 2023 NFL season, but let’s look at three of the most interesting cases.

Bill Belichick, New England Patriots

You’d never expect this, right?  Well, the greatest coach in NFL history might be at risk of losing his job if he cannot coach up a winning program in 2023.  In his first year in the post-Tom Brady era, the Patriots had a losing record with Cam Newton under center.

They then bounced back in 2021, winning 10 games with a rookie Mac Jones and making the playoffs.  However, 2022 was more of the same losing ways that the Pats have endured since Tom Brady left.

Just about nothing went right for the team as they limped to an 8-9 finish.  With two of the last three seasons being losing records, you’d have to think that Robert Kraft is at the end of his rope here.

I personally believe that another year without the playoffs will be enough for Kraft, and he will remove Bill Belichick from his head coaching duties at the end of the 2023 season.
