Duke opened up their summer camp but notably absent was their talented tight end Braxton Deaver.  Head coach David Cutcliffe told reporters that Deaver was serving a suspension for violating team rules during the offseason, but is expected to be back on August 9th, this coming Saturday.  Cutcliffe explained that Deaver had almost missed some summer workouts as a result of the suspension.

"Cutcliffe said of Deaver, “He’s doing a few things to satisfy me, which I expect to be done in a timely manner.  He should be finished with those things and ready to go and in great spirits and attitude by August 9. I’m looking forward to that for him.”"

The 6’5″ 240lb (listed) senior started all 14 games as a junior, catching 46 passes for 600 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Deaver’s most productive performance came in Chick-Fil-A Bowl bowl game against Texas A&M where Deaver caught 6 passes for 116 yards.  Unfortunately, Duke would lost the game 52-48.    Along with quarterback Alex Boone, Deaver is another prospect that was a big part of why the Blue Devils were able to go 10-4 record and winning the ACC Coastal Division.  The two could not only help Duke to another good year, but could also find themselves going in the 2015 NFL Draft.
