Teams are putting the finishing touches on their preparation as the 2015 NFL Draft is nearly here.
To preview the draft for the Houston Texans, I got together with Randy Gurzi of Toro Times. Below are my questions followed by his answers.
1. What are the team’s biggest needs heading into the draft and how might they address them?
"The biggest need facing the Houston Texans is considered by many people to be wide receiver, but I don’t agree there. I feel like the one glaring weakness on the team is at tight end. The main cast of players for the Texans in this spot strikes fear in no defense and in all honesty, their best tight end last year was defensive end J.J. Watt. That needs to change."

2. What needs to happen for this draft to be considered a success?
"It’s hard to call a draft a success until at least a season (and sometimes two or three) play out. Getting linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, guard Xavier Su’a-Filo and nose tackle Louis Nix III would seemed to be a win with all considered first round talents at one point, but none contributed anything of value last year. That being said, the team needs to find some immediate help on offense and special teams, maybe a solid pass rusher as well."
3. What in your mind would make this draft a failure?
"A repeat of the injury/ineffective bug that hit the 2014 draft class. Perhaps all those guys turn it around, but the team needs to avoid another season where young guys do not come in and contribute."
4. What is a bold prediction for your team this draft?
"Despite having three quarterbacks on the roster, I predict they take a quarterback to compete with Tom Savage, or possibly carry four if they aren’t ready to move on from him. My hope is for Texas high school baller Shane Carden from ECU in perhaps the fifth or sixth rounds."
5. What is a draft angle the general public might not be aware of for your team?
"The general public seems to thing receiver is a must and I really don’t think that is the case. I believe inside linebacker help, a solid center and maybe pass rusher all take precedence. Of course I still believe tight end is the most pressing of all the needs they have."
