With pick No. 26 in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected receiver Breshad Perriman. This is a good pick and not a surprise as they lost deep threat Torrey Smith in free agency. It makes no sense to have a quarterback with the big arm Joe Flacco has without a deep threat for him to throw to.

At 6’2″, 212 pounds, running a 4.25 40, he has the height, weight and speed numbers that every team covets. That speed not only destroys the cushions but it scares cornerbacks forcing them into “turn-and-run” mode. More sudden than most big receivers enabling him to break routes off sharply.

Perriman is consistent in getting separation at top of his route and always gets over the top of cornerbacks on verticals. He’s also physical and will body up and box out smaller cornerbacks to make the catch downfield. Perriman can also jump a little bit so with his height and armlength, he has a rather large catch radius.

He’s also a good run blocker so he fits in well with the Ravens, who like to run the ball, in more ways than one. His deep speed is going to remove that eighth defender from the box to open up the run game too. He has some focus drops and if he can straighten those out, he’s going to be an  immediate impact for the Ravens.
