Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell is deservedly the No. 1 receiver prospect for the 2016 NFL Draft. As a matter of fact, most draft experts have him in the top 10 on their respective big boards. At 6’2″, 210 pounds, he’s a good-sized receiver but he plays like he’s 6’5″, 225, he’s so physical.

He also has plenty of athleticism to go with it and most importantly, he has some sticky fingers. And Saturday, against the Memphis Tigers, his blend of talents and skills were on full display. On the day, Teadwell had 14 catches for 144 yards, including one for a touchdown from six yards out.

Seven weeks into the season, Treadwell has 49 catches for 654 yards and four touchdowns. And of course, he has the traits, being the big, athletic, new-age receiver to match his production for the scouts. Ole Miss Head coach Hugh Freeze believes Treadwell compares favorably to NFL receivers that preceded him at Ole Miss.

Freeze told NFL.com, “Laquon is as good a receiver as any that I have coached. I was a receivers coach here and I had Mike Wallace, Shay Hodge and Dexter McCluster. They were all great players. Donte Moncrief was the best we had until that point. Laquon Treadwell is just as good as Moncrief, if not better.”

Moncrief, a third-round draft pick by the Indianapolis in 2014, is balling the most of the group right now. Wallace is the most accomplished of group of past Ole Miss receivers. Wallace missed just one regular-season game in his seven-year NFL career with 6,090 yards and 48 touchdowns.

If Freeze is right, look out NFL!
