Monday Night Football: team needs for New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills

Tonight’s Monday Night Football game features teams with playoffs hopes but the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills still have some team needs to consider for the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Patriots are still among the unbeaten teams in the league and look dominate. They have good roster depth at all positions which has allowed them to overcome a string of injuries. However, there are more than a few areas they could focus in the offseason.

New England is lucky to have Tom Brady under center because he does a great job making those around him better. Their wide receiver group is a collection of average players who Brady finds a way to make the most of their talent.

However, we need to remember just how good Brady was when he had Randy Moss in the lineup. The Patriots should look to add a young playmaker to the wide receiving corps. Developing a receiver would not only help Brady, but could also play an important role once Brady decides to retire.

The issue for New England is that they are without their 1st round pick this year because of the whole deflate-gate scandal.

There are several prospect who could be available in the 2nd or 3rd round. Pittsburgh’s Tyler Boyd would make sense as a big-play threat.

The Buffalo Bills enter tonight’s game looking to get a signature win. Knocking off the Patriots could serve as a momentum builder that helps them finish the season on a high note.

Buffalo is on solid ground in the playoff picture, but there are some obvious holes on the roster. The Bills aren’t looking to just make the playoffs; they are looking to win a Super Bowl.

Tyrod Taylor has had a very good year and at the very least bought himself another year as the starter. However, he still has to prove himself– especially when it comes playoff time. We can’t rule out the possibility that Buffalo sees limitations with Taylor and targets a quarterback early in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Bills have a strong group of cornerbacks on the roster but the safety position has been an issue. Aaron Williams is out with an injury and the make shift group of Bacarri Rambo, Corey Graham and Duke Williams has struggled.

This year’s safety group has several promising players including Ohio State’s Vonn Bell. He’d be an excellent fit for the Bills as his coverage ability would help on the back end.

Both of these teams are obviously focused on this season, but there are people within each organization already looking towards the draft.
