Sam Bradford is understandably upset that the Philadelphia Eagles traded a lot of draft capital to get in position to select a quarterback in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles are thought to be targeting North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz with the No. 2 pick which obviously makes him the quarterback of the future. Wentz is a physically gifted prospect with tons of upside that have many believing he’s a franchise player.

Philadelphia believes the hype which is why they made an aggressive move. However, they also appear to understand that it could take a year or two until Wentz is ready to step in as a starter. The Eagles are equipped to handle this situation because of the presence of veterans Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel.

Bradford wants out of this situation because he doesn’t want to be a bridge quarterback just setting the table for someone to eventually take his job. At just 28 years old, he’s young enough to be considered a long-term answer for some franchise. However, the issue is his injury history which certainly played a factor in the Eagles decision to make a play for Wentz.

A trade seems like the best course of action for both parties. Philadelphia has Chase Daniel on the roster who could serve as the starter until Wentz is ready to take over. The Eagles could also use some extra draft picks after giving up so much in order to move up to No. 2 overall in this draft.

Some of the teams that might be interested in Bradford’s services include: the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos.

The big issue with a trade is the potential salary cap penalties. Of the teams listed above only the 49ers and Browns have enough space to take on Bradford’s $12.5 million hit next season. The other teams would have to make some significant cuts to fit Bradford on the roster.
