Leonard Fournette has a chance to make an early statement when his LSU Tigers take on the Wisconsin Badgers.

College football kicks off for real today with several major matchups. One of the bigger ones is LSU vs. Wisconsin that not only will have an impact on the season but also on individual player’s draft stock.

Leonard Fournette is the big name to watch in this game as he’s already considered a likely 1st round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. This is a physical runner who also possesses the top-end speed to break off long runs.

He’s the focal point of LSU’s offense and will get a ton of carries in this game. Wisconsin will focus most of their attention to shutting down Fournette, but that could open things up for another potential 1st round pick in wide receiver Malachi Dupre.

More from With the First Pick

Dupre is a solid athlete who has excellent size for the position. He knows how to use his body to box out defenders and attack the ball at its highest point. His draft stock right now is tied to his upside which means he needs to show more consistency this year in order to solidify his position.

There’s a very interesting subplot here with LSU signing former Wisconsin defensive coordinator Dave Aranda this offseason. He was replace by former USC defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox.

Aranda will no doubt offer his insight in to the players on Wisconsin’s roster. He could give offensive coordinator Cam Cameron some ideas where to attack. However, I don’t expect LSU to get too creative.

This is going to be the Leonard Fournette Show just as it was last year and will be for rest of the season.
