Ohio State’s Marshon Lattimore is a redshirt Sophomore who is one of the top rated cornerbacks eligible for the 2017 NFL Draft.

Despite his lack of experience, Marshon Lattimore is a polished and highly effective cornerback prospect. He features good overall size, length and reach. His long arms help him generate a lot of pass breakups and makes him a threat to pull down interceptions.

Ohio State asks Lattimore to play on an island in tight man coverage. He plays at the line of scrimmage, quickly bails out and runs with his target. Lattimore is a fluid athlete who limits separation and stays in-phase with the receiver.

He has the speed to turn and run with most receivers which limits the amount of big plays down field. Lattimore is an instinctual defender who knows when to get his head on the football while keeping pace with his target.

The combination of his ability to limit big plays and separation makes Lattimore a true shutdown cornerback. He just doesn’t allow the receiver room to work or the ability to present the quarterback with an open target.

Lattimore brings added value with his ability to support the run. He’s a reliable tackler who doesn’t shy away from contact.

The only real concerns surrounding Lattimore are his lack of playing time and the fact Ohio State’s defense has a ton of talent. Ohio State’s defensive line does a great job generating pressure on the quarterback which limits the amount of time Lattimore has to stick in coverage.

However, Lattimore grades out with based on his physical attributes and overall instincts. He’s a top notch defender capable of matching up with a team’s No. 1 receiver.
