5. Arizona Cardinals – The Kevin Kolb signing was huge for the Cardinals. They obviously received little production from rookie quarterback John Skelton and Kolb will definitely be an upgrade there. They also added Daryn Colledge from Green Bay to keep Kolb off his back and tight end Todd Heap. Heap will provide an escape route that Kolb loves to check down to if he can’t get his new toy Larry Fitzgerald the ball.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars – Jacksonville has had a very active off season. Finishing in the bottom of the AFC South once again, the Jaguars did not stand idle by in this free agency. With work in their secondary needed to be made in a pass happy AFC South, Jacksonville signed safety Dawan Landry of the Ravens and corner back Drew Coleman of the Jets. They also added pad popping Paul Posluszny, who brings a much needed leadership to the defense, and released a disappointing Derrick Harvey.

3. Chicago Bears- “Da Bears” took in a lot of help on both sides of the ball this offseason. Now they didnt sign a lot of “Star” players, but a lot of quality role players. They picked up Roy Williams and Marion Barber from the Cowboys to help expand the offense, and young Vernon Gholston and Amobi Okoye to add some youth to the defense. If anyone could pull Gholston and Okoye away from their bust labels, its Rod Marinelli.

2. New England Patriots – I know the Patriots did not make big free agency moves, but they excelled else where. The Pats made a big splash with trading for Albert Haynesworth for a measly 5th round pick…..in 2013. If that signing was not big enough, they went out and traded for Chad Ochocinco. Ochocinco will help spread the defense out, which is needed to get Wes Welker the ball, and the Patriots back to the Superbowl. Under the radar was the re-signings of offensive lineman Matt Light and Logan Mankins to help keep Brady on his feet.

1. Philadelphia Eagles – The “Dream Team”, as newly acquired Vince Young put it, couldn’t be a more suitable name. The most obvious major signing was that of Nnamdi Asoumgha. If he wasn’t enough to bolster the secondary, they also received Dominique Rodgers Cromartie from the Kolb trade, who will fit in well with Asante Samuel. You would think they would be done….. right? The Eagles then decided to add beef to their already successful defensive line by adding pro bowler Jason Babin. Babin will be reunited with defensive line coach Jim Washburn, then one who resurrected his career. Vince young wasn’t a bad pickup either. The Philadelphia Eagles are already early favorites to be a participant in the Superbowl.
