Although originally from New Jersey, Butler came up from the JUCO ranks coming from Contra Costa College in San Pueblo, CA where he was recognized for a number of awards before ending up with the Aggies. This past season was his first with the Utah State program where he was able to catch 24 passes for 346 yards in the 13 games he played; two as a starter.
At this point, it is unclear how the coaching staff at Utah State will handle the issue, but last year he was the fifth in receptions, so they may be able to afford to send a message with Butler. The Aggies are expecting a big year with star quarterback Chuckie Keeton coming back an ACL injury, so this is an issue they could have done without a few weeks before the players are back on campus.
