By transferring to Stephen F. Austin and going to the FCS level, Fields should be eligible to play this season, This would be a huge boost to the Lumberjacks as Fields has a remarkable amount of strength and athleticism, which could allow him to have a dominant season. Fields is eligible to declare for the NFL Draft after this year should he choose and given where his career has gone, that might be the safe bet at this point.
Unfortunately, Fields is among a trio of extremely collegiate prospects that have have been regarded as possessing first round type talent along with Dorial Green-Beckham and Colt Lyerla, but all three have had substantial off field issues that could cost them dramatically in the NFL Draft process. Lyerla ended up going undrafted while Beckham has to transfer from Missouri and is currently awaiting to see if he can play this year for Oklahoma, as unlikely as that might be.
Fields finds himself in a similar circumstance and there is no denying what he can do for a team and what he could have meant for TCU, but now he finds himself not only trying to stay healthy and develop his game, but prove to the NFL that he can be someone that can be counted on to contribute and stay on the field.
