The Senior Bowl has announced their first wave of accepted invitations, including free safety Jaquiski Tartt from Samford University. Not only is Tartt one of the first players being invited from the FCS subdivision this year along with David Johnson from Northern Iowa, but this may honor mean an additional amount for him because Tartt is from Mobile, AL.

Tartt did not start playing organized football until his senior year of high school and was known more for basketball, so he did not get much attention when it came to recruiting. Nevertheless, after contributing as a redshirt freshman, Tartt took over the starting safety job as a sophomore and was named an FCS All-American while also being a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award given to the top FCS defensive back.
Since then, Tartt has had two more seasons to continue to learn and improve at the game while the rest of the Southern Division has done their best to avoid him. Tartt, listed at 6’1″ 218lbs, has NFL size and will have his chance to showcase his skills against the best talent in the country. The first game of this season, Tartt recorded 7 solo tackles against TCU and will have the opportunity to wrap up his season playing against Auburn before getting to go home and represent Samford University in his hometown at the Senior Bowl.
