Combination
Back in 2004, Belichick used to send Kevin Faulk in for Dillon on pass downs or to get him the ball in space. At 6’0″, 231 pounds, Gurley is a big back but he catches the ball well so he doesn’t have to come off the field. Opposing defenses knew back then if the Patriots were running or not but that wouldn’t be the case with Gurley.
Gurley is a big back that can move the chains, control the clock and gash you for chunks of yards up the middle of your defense. He can also catch the ball, do something with it in space and take it the distance with his breakaway speed. That’s better than a combination of Faulk and Gurley because he has more speed than the other two backs had.
