Bottom Line

This article isn’t to bash on Hundley at all because I think the world of him as he can become a great quarterback in the NFL. But I don’t want to see him go in and ball like the first wave of spread option quarterbacks for a couple of years then start struggling. Developing a sense in that pocket is key because if he doesn’t, the big, strong, fast beasts in the NFL will eat him alive.

And you don’t want one of those diva NFL receivers to come back to the huddle with smack to talk because Hundley didn’t see him open. Sure, he could sit a couple of years and learn but for the most part, pocket presence and processing what you see is learned best in games. Plus he could go into the NFL with a Heisman Trophy and as the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
