The Book on Hunter

At 6’6″, 241 pounds, Hunter has a wingspan on him and he’s known of his athleticism with it. Scouts particularly like the way he uses his length to play the run and bat down passes at the line of scrimmage and his “surprising strength.” CBS.com NFL Draft scout Rob Rang said of Mingo, “He possesses the length and awareness to potentially handle the switch to rush linebacker in a 3-4 scheme.”

And of course, they liken him to Mingo, saying that he’s much better than his lack of production (sacks) indicates. They also like his aggression and willingness to throw his body around, an uncommon trait in today’s edge rusher. He’s been clocked at 4.6 in the 40 and they like the way he uses it with a high, passionate motor in pursuit.

What the scouts don’t like is him being a light in the booty and how it will make him susceptible to getting run on in the NFL. And even though he has terrific long speed, scouts aren’t crazy about is short area burst. They particularly don’t like what they call his “inconsistent get-off” on the snap at the line of scrimmage.
