The Book on Fowler

First and foremost, the scouts love Fowler’s versatility to play almost anywhere on the line of scrimmage. At times at Florida, he lined up at defensive tackle, end and outside linebacker. He’s 6’2″, 261 pounds and very athletic so he’s a hybrid that can play 4-3 end or 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL.

With that size he has he’s very powerful, and uses his leverage to bull-rush and offensive tackle. So the scouts love that, and the fact that he’s pretty explosive off the edge to get around you, too. And his nonstop motor endears him to the scouting world even more.

What they don’t like is his lack of recognition skills when the opposing team runs the ball. They say he too often charges into the opposing team’s backfield while the ball carrier runs right past him. That goes along with what they say is his tendency to get a little undisciplined and not play his assigned gap.
