Future Quarterbacks Coach

The word in the NFL streets is that Prolific Athletes quarterbacks tutor Kevin O’Connell is soon to be the quarterbacks coach of the Browns. It has since been taken down but a congratulations to O’Connell was posted on their Facebook page for getting the job. O’Connell, who tutored Manziel last year on how to be a pocket passer, is set to do the same thing for Mariota this year.

There are other quarterbacks including Jameis Winston training there but according to Cleveland.com, O’Connell is focusing mainly on Mariota. Now, in case you don’t know, NFL rules forbid coaches from talking to prospects until the combine. The Browns’ loophole is O’Connell hasn’t been officially hired yet and there are some around the league that take exception to such tactics.

A high-level executive with another team told PFT.NBC.com on Wednesday morning, “So let me get this straight, the Browns can have their quarterbacks coach in waiting work with a player, teach him the entire offense, etc., but we can’t even talk to any potential draft pick until the Combine per league rules?  Something is wrong here.”
