Bottom Line

More from NFL Draft News

The Browns obviously liked the work O’Connell did with Manziel to straighten out his release and footwork. But unfortunately, Manziel wanted to drink and party instead of getting into his playbook. And in the process, receiver Josh Gordon drank with him and smoked that bud. (marijuana)

So now, Farmer is waiting to hire him but he can’t take a job until he’s done getting Mariota ready for the combine. And Mariota just so happens to have long been the apple of Farmer’s eye while Farmer has two 1st-round picks to entice a Top-5 team. This isn’t just smoke or fire, it’s a roaring blaze and the Browns aren’t confirming or denying anything to put it out.

As for O’Connell and Mariota working together being cheating, they don’t know if they’ll have a trade partner. But if they do find one, the stars are truly aligned for the Browns and Mariota because it works out too well for both sides. The Browns get a quarterback they can coach and be the new face of the franchise while they let their bad apples rot somewhere else.

Mariota gets a coach that can teach him how to convert into a solid pocket-quarterback.

Win, win!
