With tight end Julius Thomas as the No. 1 receiver, (see free agency article) the Raiders need speed. And Phillip Dorsett, who will be the fastest man at the combine this week should be the pick in Round, 2. But don’t get it twisted, he’s not your typical track guy, he’s a good football player.
WalterFootball.com’s Charlie Campbell compared Dorsett to Miami Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace saying,”Dorsett and Wallace are similar players in that they are deep-threat receivers who are very good at stretching a defense vertically. Both are threats to score on any reception and have elite speed. Dorsett is a more polished route-runner than Wallace was entering the NFL. Dorsett also doesn’t have the attitude issues that Wallace has displayed.”
If this is really who Dorsett is, why isn’t he projected to go in the first round?
Don’t worry about it, just take him in the second.
