After all of the trade talk, the Tennessee Titans stand pat, picking Marcus Mariota No. 2 overall. Being a potential franchise quarterback has to take presidence overall when trying to rebuild a football. team. His upside is incredible but the head coach Ken Whisenhunt is going to have to change some things for Mariota to play right away.
Mariota didn’t take a snap from center in high school or college so that’s one adjustment. Then the biggest adjustment is Mariota didn’t even call plays in college so he will be challeged by the verbiage of the NFL. But when you have a kid with that kind of arm and speed, it’s hard to turn down.
His work eithic and who is as a person are more impressive than than his athletic ability is. Some people bet on people while others bet on athletic talent and Mariota has plenty of both. Mariota just needs to be trained to do things the NFL way and a coach like Ken Whisenhunt is the kind of head coach that can do things like that.
Yes, Mariota is a bet to make it as an NFL quarterback as his trates and mentality indicate.
The only question is how long will it take?
