With their first pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the Washington Redskins select Brandon Scherff at No. 5 overall. The move makes sense because the organization wants to get something out of quarterback Robert Griffin III. The Redskins have enough weapons outside for Griffin but need to protect him better.
They already have Trent Williams at left tackle so that won’t be what Scherff is asked to play. That’s actually a good thing because he lacks the footwork and the armlength for left tackle but at right tackle or guard, he’s a monster. He is a technitian, a road grader, a finisher and a nasty boy all at the same time.
Running back Albert Morris stands to benefit from the pick too so the Redskins could get two stars to perform better as a result of this pick. If that happens, they’re not far from becoming a playoff team as all they would need is a pass-rusher and a corner.
Look out!
