With pick No. 19 in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Cameron Erving. Erving is listed at center, where the Browns have Alex Mack, but this is a great signing because Erving can play any position on the offensive line. Mack can void his contract after the 2015 season if he becomes to rich for the Browns’ blood, he can fill in there.
But right a way, he can play right tackle as the Browns have wanted to kick Mitchell Schwartz inside for a while now. Erving comes from a pro style offense so he won’t have a problem with all the different calls and protections. Erving is a technician that’s consistently in the ready position and uses good hand placement.
He has no problem getting to second level to make cut-off blocks has the athleticism to pull and trap. The fact that he’s played mulitple positions tells you that he’s coachable and learns things quickly. To show just how well he’s able to learn, he’s a converted defensive tackle so whether it be offensive tackle center, he will learn and improve quickly in the NFL.
And with all the upside he has, he’s ready to go in and contribrute to the Browns right now.
