The Houston Texans will be fine on offense with quarterback Ryan Mallett coming back in 2015. And with defensive lineman J.J. Watt leading the charge, the front-seven on the defense looks good. So the one thing the Texans need to do is address the back end of the defense, having to deal with Indianapoils Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.
He was second-team All-ACC in 2014, starting all 12 games and allowing just 24 completions all season long. Johnson is very natural in man coverage, has feet and discipline to play square to mirror. He’s disruptive in press coverage, altering and slowing receivers’ routes, not allowing them to get to their spot on time.
He didn’t run the greatest 40 at 4.52 but his 6.79 3-cone drill time indicates he can stay with receivers running routes. And when he’s there, being 6’0″ with 31-inch long arms and a 41-inch vertical leap, he shrinks opposing quarterbacks’ margin for error. He’s ready to go in and help right away so we’ll see what the Texans and do with the Colts in 2015.
