The Kansas City Chiefs addressed not throwing a touchdown pass to a receiver in 2015 in free agency. They have Jamaal Charles to run the ball and the front-seven they have gets after the quarterback. So the thing for the Chiefs to do here is address the back end of the defense.
So the Chiefs selected cornerback Marcus Peters with pick No. 18 in the 2015 NFL Draft. Peters is actually the best corner in the draft but his off-the-field issues made him available to the Chiefs. At 6’0″, 197 pounds, Peters has good size for the position, fluidity in his hips to flip and run and he competes hard in press-man coverage.
He often intimidates receivers and get’s inside their heads with his physicality. He puts his 38-inch vertical leap and long arms to good use when contesting catches and often comes away with 50/50 balls. They just knows how to play the game and he’s ready to go in and help the Chiefs in the secondary right away.
December 6 is an interesting date because the Chiefs will continue one of the biggest rivalies in NFL history against the Oakland Raiders. And to go with it, he’ll be starting a new rivalry in a rookie matchup against Raiders receiver Amari Cooper. There will be more reasons than a few to circle that date for Raiders and Chiefs fans.
